Casa Enrique

I was craving Mexican food, so I Googled “best Mexican food in LIC.” Casa Enrique came up in my search with excellent ratings on Yelp, OpenTable, TripAdvisor, and The Infatuation; it even has one Michelin Star! I knew I had to try it or else I’d be missing out.

I dragged my fiancé and brother out to the restaurant, all of us had high expectations. We started by ordering a couple of drinks, the pineapple and raspberry caipirinhas were delicious. They were colorful, festive, and they had just enough sweetness. For appetizers, we ordered the guacamole and crab tostadas. The guacamole was good, but it needed a little salt. The crab tostadas were lemony, fresh, and flavorful. I loved the addition of cilantro, it all came together nicely.
We then ordered tacos, my brother ordered the chorizo tacos, I ordered the pastor tacos, and my fiancé ordered the cow tongue tacos. We LOVED the chorizo and pastor tacos, but I couldn’t get on board with the cow tongue – it had a liver-like texture. The guys ended up ordering another entrée; they both got a spare rib special that was slowly cooked in a chipotle sauce. The meat was tender and it fell off of the bone perfectly, however, the sauce was disappointingly bland. As for dessert, we ordered tres leches and flan. We could not pick which one we loved more! We were mind blown by the dessert.

Sparkle rating: 8 out of 10. I’m looking forward to going back, for the drinks, desserts, and to try more things on the menu!
